Post Hole Depth

A common rule of thumb for fence posts is that 1/3 of the total post length should be buried in the ground. This provides stability against wind and leaning.

Depth = Height Above Ground × 0.5

Note: Always check your local frost line depth. Posts should ideally reach below the frost line to prevent "heaving."
